Princess Bride, The
Year: 1987
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Rob Reiner
Genre: Adventure, Fantasy
Rating: 7 out of 10
Comments:
Rob Reiner brings you this classic fairy tale featuring Cary Elwes, Robin Wright, Chris
Sarandon, and Billy Crystal. When Buttercup is kidnapped, the poor farm boy she fell in love with but
believed to have been killed returns to rescue her from her kidnappers and the evil prince. A must see film.
Rambo (Rambo 4)
Year: 2008
Studio: Lions Gate
Directed by: Sylvester Stallone
Genre: Action
Rating: 6.5 out of 10
Comments:
Bloodier and far more violent than the previous films, it does bring the series to a fitting end.
You'll know when you see it. Rambo has come full circle and it's comforting to know the series will end the
right way. This time he must travel into Burma with a group of mercenaries to rescue missionaries held
captive by a brutal regime.
Reno 911! Miami
Year: 2007
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Robert Ben Garant
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 6 out of 10
Comments:
If you’re a fan of the television show or in the mood for some mindless fun, you’ll absolutely love
this film. The rag-tag team of Reno cops must save the day when a terrorist attack disrupts a national police
convention. The plot is kept simple for a theatrical release and surprisingly its 84 minute run time feels just
right.
Porky’s 2: The Next Day
Year: 1983
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Bob Clark
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 5.5 out of 10
Comments:
An enjoyable sequel to the original hit film. Our heroes from Angel Beach High are once again
at their old antics as they clash with KKK fanatics and corrupt politicians trying to shut down their
Shakespeare production. Watch this back to back with the original.
Porky’s Revenge (Porky's 3)
Year: 1985
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: James Komack
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 4.5 out of 10
Comments:
Although critics are correct to point out this is a drop off from its previous entries and our Angel
Beach High heroes may be too old to play high school characters anymore, so what! This is a satisfying end
to the Porky’s trilogy despite a few minor flaws. Our heroes from Angel Beach High face off one last time with
Porky who wants them to throw the basketball championship game.
Rambo: First Blood Part 2
Year: 1985
Studio: TriStar Pictures
Directed by: George P. Cosmatos
Genre: Action
Rating: 6 out of 10
Comments:
Rambo evolved from a troubled Vietnam veteran to a comic book hero in this sequel to ‘First
Blood’. An early draft was written by James Cameron. Expect more explosive action and popcorn enjoyment
in this sequel. Rambo is removed from prison for a top secret mission in Vietnam.
Rambo 3
Year: 1988
Studio: TriStar Pictures
Directed by: Peter MacDonald
Genre: Action
Rating: 5 out of 10
Comments:
Somewhat disappointing entry in the Rambo series. This film is most notable for being the most
costly film at the time of its release. This film was very entertaining as a child but in retrospect it is very
difficult to enjoy today. Rambo must rescue his mentor from his Russian captors in Afghanistan.
Porky’s
Year: 1982
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Bob Clark
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 6.5 out of 10
Comments:
This is the original teen comedy that glorified the pursuit of getting laid. Its success inspired next-
generation hits like ‘American Pie’. Today’s generation who enjoy these raunchy comedies should thank Bob
Clark and company. However, this younger generation may find the humor stale compared to its recent
counterparts. Watch for Kim Cattrall in an early role as Miss Honeywell. A group of high school friends trying
to lose their virginity clash with a sleazy nightclub owner.
Police Academy 6: City Under Siege
Year: 1989
Studio: Warner Bros.
Genre: Comedy
Directed by: Peter Bonerz
Rating: 4 out of 10
Comments:
Is six franchise films in six years a record for Hollywood? This time our heroes must stop a crime
wave orchestrated by a mastermind criminal and his three inept goons. This will surely entertain fans of the
series but this is a big drop off from previous entries. The lowbrow humor that made the early entries
successful isn’t very effective anymore. This film is followed by Police Academy: Mission to Moscow.
Police Academy: Mission to Moscow (Police Academy 7)
Year: 1994
Studio: Warner Bros.
Genre: Comedy
Directed by: Alan Metter
Rating: 2.5 out of 10
Comments:
There is no question or even debating that Mission to Moscow is the weakest entry in the series.
You’d think that they could’ve made a better film since they had five years since the last entry. The misfits we
have grown to love travel to Moscow and clash with the Russian Mafia. If a plot like that doesn’t scream to
you how bad it’ll be then perhaps you might enjoy this film. Watch for Claire Forlani in an early role.

Revenge of the Nerds
Year: 1984
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Jeff Kanew
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 6.5 out of 10
Comments:
The classic long rumored to be the recipient of a remake is one of the few films that will fail
miserably if it is ever remade. That's how much of a classic this film is. The film, its comedic story, and the
characters are the product of the 80’s which in most cases cannot be duplicated. Despite some minor flaws
this is a fantastic way to spend 90 minutes of your time. Two nerdy friends form a fraternity with other nerds
but unwittingly end up clashing with the Alpha Beta jocks.
Revenge of the Nerds 2: Nerds in Paradise
Year: 1987
Studio: 20th Century Fox
Directed by: Joe Roth
Genre: Comedy
Rating: 4.5 out of 10
Comments:
Not nearly as funny or memorable as the original film. Most fans will be disappointed with this
sequel. This film was lambasted by critics back in its original release but is not nearly as bad as some may
say. Anthony Edwards makes only a brief appearance in this film and his absence is noticeable. The Lewis
and Gilbert friendship was the heart and soul of the original and it’s unnecessarily been reduced here. The
Tri-Lambdas head to Fort Lauderdale for a conference and clash with the Alpha Betas again.
